Once-Only Principle

The Once-Only Principle Project (TOOP) has published its first deliverable to the European Commission that is also open for public access. It gives interesting insights on the situation of the once-only Principle in Europe.

The European Commission proposed to establish a Single Digital Gateway that shall serve as a single point of access to public services provided by EU Member States. The new Gateway will rely heavily on the once-only principle (OOP).

The Digital Services Interoperability (ISA²) programme of the European Commission has nominated multiple projects based on the once-only principle (OOP) for its Sharing and Reuse Award.

Poland is further modernizing its government. One important step is the implementation of the once-only principle (OOP). Starting with the baby bonus, the OOP shall soon be extended to other services.

With an ambitious statement titled “Citizens still trapped to act as “messengers in captivity” between various administrations” the recently established State e-Government Agency (EGSA) sets out to bring the OOP to e-services in Bulgaria.

The implementation of the once-only principle can have a big impact in making life easier for citizens and businesses across the EU and could contribute to the Digital Single Market. These are just some of the results of the study on EU-wide OOP.
